Films

332 films I’ve watched with assorted notes where applicable.

Proper tracking began in 2025, so most watch logging prior to that is omitted. Some pre-2025 details have been recovered but may be noted with generalised specifics. It is very possible that I have watched listed content more times than is represented here.

  4. The Naked Gun (2025)

    Notes

Not quite as sharp as the originals. What made Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker brilliant was the sheer number of layered jokes that are so numerous that even after several watches you continue to discover new ones. I feel like I've experienced all this film has to offer in the first watch, and that each of the jokes felt added on, rather than inline and spur of the moment. They were almost skits, rather than quick visual gags or witty turns of phrase that you take a moment to process before chuckling.

  5. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025)

    Notes

Too long and extremely poorly paced. The action sequences were exhilarating, and the visuals were great, but the story was sloppy. Generically named malevolent AI that gains sentience and tries to destroy the world is a plot that has been done to death. The action scenes were slightly marred due to the characters being seemingly invincible and thus the risks being nullified. One can only suspend their disbelief so much in a film that is attempting to remain based in reality.

  195. Super Size Me (2004)

    Notes

A completely flawed 'documentary'. The subject and creator of the film, Morgan Spurlock, abused alcohol throughout the 'experiment' of eating McDonalds food for 30-days, invalidating all findings.

  200. Shaun of the Dead (2004)

  201. The Incredibles (2004)

  202. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)

    Notes

Arguably the best-directed film of the series. John William's score, particularly Window to the Past, fit so extremely well. I very much wish he'd kept on with the rest of the series, or at least that the motifs he'd established had remained in use.

Funny, but inferior to previous Naked Gun films.

    Notes

As a fan of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, Darkman has a lot of the same stylistic hallmarks, although as yet unrefined. I'm unsure if it was supposed to be quite as funny as I found it, but I really enjoyed it in a schlock sense.

  288. Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers (1987)

  289. RoboCop (1987)

    Notes

A fantastic satire, though it is a shame that private enterprise meddling in public services and police brutality have remained such relevant topics. The stop-motion and practical effects are fantastic. Where many films present an 80s version of the future, RoboCop feels like the future brought back to the 80s.

    Notes

In Year 10 of high school this was required watching for my English class and I wrote many essays on it. One shudders to think of how many times I've seen this film and how many hours I dedicated to analysing it. I was top of my class that year though.

  295. Back To The Future (1985)

    Notes

While absolutely a fantastic film in its own right, it is elevated by it's sequels. It is a rare case of what I'd consider a 'perfect' film, in that I don't think it could be improved any further.

The exquisite practical visuals, paired with Vangelis' music, make this one of the most stunning pieces of cinema I've been exposed to. The fantastic performances, particularly the tears in rain monologue, only furthers this.

Holding the book in such high regard, I was rather disappointed by the film and am maligned by the fact that it seems to be the version of A Clockwork Orange in the zeitgeist.

  323. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)

    Notes

I love the slightly sinister undertones of completely unhinged insanity Gene Wilder brings. The tunnel scene in particular is wonderfully and disorientingly disturbing.
